The School for Blind was a boarding school where children come from all over Tanzania for a large period of the year. They have a rigorous schedule throughout the whole day.
Upon our arrival, the students sang us a greeting song and we sang one back to them.
The kids were on their way to class after welcoming us.
This is the dormitory of the females.
In the kindergarten room, the children use all different techniques to learn skills. While we were their, they were learning counting in Swahili and English though the aid of blocks.
The students learn how to run a loom, and make mats and chairs.
Our major task that we helped with was converting visual books into material that can be felt. We helped convert words into braille, and used string and sandpaper to convert images so they can feel the shapes.
Students lined up their shoes outside the buildings before entering.
